Crime Watch on a sunday morning

Yesterday I was preparing a well earned sunday breakfast/brunch, making pancakes and such. This peacuful moment was interrupted by loud police sirens and a chase on my home street. I'm not sure what happened here, but the cops quite firmly apprehended these two suspects in a van and handcuffed them. I managed to get this pic using my new spy gear. What amazed me for the way these guys were treated, it was no speeding ticket this time I'm sure.

Whuut's happening to our neighbourhood? Crack dealers on the loose?

The best Dancehall riddim for 2008

Is here. It hasn't been particularly awesome year for jamaican music this year IMHO. I have really liked the more rootsy stuff for a few years and this year has brought us some great tunes from Perfect, Etana, Alaine, Demarco, Chezidek, Pressure, Munga and such pretty new timers plus loads of cool stuff from the older players. But nonetheless the riddims have not been that great, at least on the dancehall side.

I just heard this riddim today and this one is a true banger, as we Kritons like to say. It's called "Beauty" and it's ows a lot to the Diwali riddim from the year 2002. Ok, I the last trip I did to Jamaica was actually that same year, so I still remember how friggin huuuuuge diwali for back then, and it brings back good memories of good times, but still this rocks.

Coolest mobile software ever - Joiku Spotlight

Have you ever been out of your wi-fi reach when you really need it? Well if you have invested in a good Nokia phone (S60 3rd Ed phones) your problems are solved. Joiku Spotlight (nothing to do with the finnish Jaiku, that's a mobile microblogging thang) is a free software that'll turn your mobile into a wi-fi hotspot. Just download the program and turn it on and it shows as a new wi-fi connection on your computer near by. How geek is that? How cool is that?

The best thing is that you can use more than one computer to share that hotspot - no more fuss trying to make your computer and phone work together. Of course this hotspot is open to everyone, but it-s a freeconomy world, ain't it?

Check it out at Joiku's Place

***EDIT 100211***
Yeah this is still alive and more popular than ever. Now it's called Joikuspot

Best Ever. Like Right Now. Katy Perry

F**k it, I confess.

I love that song, yes, even more than this. And Katy Perry is the hotness herself. And hey, I wouldn't mind it...

Disco music will save your life, Heavy Metal kills!

They have studied this, and it's a fact:

The University of Illinois medical school studied the effect the song had on keeping time during CPR. Five weeks after practicing CPR with the song playing on an iPod, doctors at the medical school were able to hum along without the music and keep time just a little bit faster than 100 per minute, which is perfectly fine when we're talking about chest compressions.

Stayin' alive,
Stayin' alive,
Ha...ah...ah...ah
(this part is exactly 100 beats per minute)
Stayin' a-li-ive
This tip helps rescuers keep the proper rate while doing CPR. Going too slow doesn't generate enough blood flow, and going too fast doesn't allow the heart to fill properly between compressions. Humming along with the Bee Gees is one way to stay on track.
For those of you less optimistic folks, Queen's classic, Another One Bites the Dust, also has the proper beat.

Well, I lied a bit in the headline, they had no hard evidence against metal music, but I guess good black metal could be used to bring someone back to life? From the other side.. :-)

Live your life: T.I. recycles euro (trash)

Once again a rapper takes an annoying dancetune phrase and makes an own song out of it. Don't wanna say anything bad about O-zone, the moldovian pop phenomenon who wrote the original Dragostea Din Tei, but T.I manages to pull it off, once again. Tha king of the south. And we all love Rihanna, don't we?

And this will mos def make a killer ringtone to piss of your friends and foes.

The first single "Whatever you like is even more dynamite. Check it out!

Remember King Missile? How about some MC 900 Foot Jesus?

All of us at the Kriton camp have been very much into this mix recently. We were just hangin at studio tonight (and finished a track BTW. And also started a new genre, but nuff about that) and got to talkin about how cool this 90's alt-rock mix by Catchdubs is and how we all have these records at home (yeah dude, we're old). So why not share the topic with you? After all, it is a free mix!

So get it while it's hot and before you favorite new-rave-club-bmore-blog-house-nouveau-crunk-dj's start spinning 90's alternative like they invented that shit. And BLAST THAT SUCKA SO LOUD YOUR NEIGHBORS CAN HEAR IT.

Kriton's "Thrashin" finally here too

Hey we're not always so quick in here. So we finished this track already like a month or two ago, but kinda forgot to post it here. Anyway, the song's been in our MySpace and also leaked in blogs ages ago. So we figured now's probably a good time to put it in here too. Since we got a new BANGA on the finishing line already....

So here it is, Thrashin' by Kriton High School Bangers. All ya'll over 30 will recognize the sample instantly. All'yall under 30, go browse your big bro's vinyl shelf already. Under the letter "M", in the "1986" section.

Baby drop another Slow Jam

There's really nothing like a nice, smooth slow jam to warm up the cold september nights. These are some of my favorites right now.

Also, these videos are a nice throwback to what the urban style was all about in the mid 80's (1985 and 1986, to be exact). Jheri curls, moustaches, big blazers, silk shirts, leather pants & all that. Now when will The Cool Kids catch that wave?

Never Surrender

Ahh, a real 80's cheese pop classic to warm up the cold september days. Corey Hart's "Never Surrender". The video also looks SO Canadian it hurts.
