We all know what Spotify has done to (free / ad sponsored) streaming audio. What I wait for is the next spotify for video, both tv series and full length movies. Hulu has been a big thing in the States for almost a few years now, and we all remember the hype around Joost but there must be something happening soon.
In the meanwhile check out Speedcine, one version of what this could be in the future.
