Happy Ten Year Anniversary To Life Of Kriton

Santa, drunk santa, Jopo -bike and gay saunas of Helsinki. Those were among the first things we covered here on the Life Of Kriton ten years ago. Yes, we will celebrate a 10 year anniversary in March. Quite amazing, really. The average lifespan of blogs is hard to determine, but Technorati once quoted that 95 % of blogs will die within a couple of years.

So we're still alive. Ok, the fact is that we're barely alive, but still breathing. The reason of course is that during ten years we've seen the internet coming to and changing our daily behaviour; microblogging with Twitter, mobile and social sharing with Facebook, link sharing with Tumblr, Vlogging with Youtube, live streaming with Periscope, music sharing with Souncdloud, photo sharing with Instagram...you remember Google+??? The list goes on and on. The blogging community is bigger than ever, but the environment is different.

So we have also many other channels to contribute to and maybe we're a bit lazy as well.

After 941 published blog posts it's been cool to see 165.000 unique visits during those years. 2010 was our best year with over 30.000 visits. Interestingly the most viewed blog posts were... Well, they're about Jopos and gay saunas. These very subjects covered in 2006 still bring traffic. Thanks to Google indexing system I guess.

We will promise nothing, this could be our last blog post, maybe not.

Keep it real, homies.

Danger Danger

I was really into some crappy hair metal bands back in the 80's when i was a school kid. Like not even just Poison, Winger, Ratt, Warrant and Dokken, but even ones that weren't as popular, but still equally crappy. Like Danger Danger from New York. They looked (and sounded) like bunch of little girls, but i didn't care. And at least their first album cover was pretty cool - in a geeky airbrush way (see above).

And all this blabbering leads me to this: last friday i met this nice dude named Jan at the Cocomotion club and he said that he has a blog called Danger Danger. And not just any old blog, but actually a really cool one. A music one. So unless you're still into crap hair metal, go check it out!

Fashion bloggin'

Fashion blogs are getting more 'n more popular every day, there must be hundreds of kids making them now. The swedes are obviously years ahead of us with Blondin Bella and others but we're getting there.

Just too bad they're mostly made by gurrls, so they concentrate more on the feminine side of life. If you're a chica in your twenties you could go fo' stuff like Fashion Overdose. That one is actually kinda cool, she's interviewing Annie and what kind of clothes Annie likes to wear - something you would expect from Anna Abreau perhaps, not Annie.

So if you know of any male oriented fashion blogs, plz let us know. Or better yet, start making one of your own, dude!

The Hype Machine

In the digital age if you want to be ahead and know what's coming up next on the music scene, you can't really rely on official charts and media. I mean, even the Billboards and such are good indicators of what's happening right now with the masses (album, single and even downloaded music sales) but it's the blogs where the action is. You might have build your own iGoogle or Netvibes account to follow the latest RSS-feeds of your favourite blogs, but here's a good site to see what the blogosphere is buzzing about: The Hypemachine

Obviously Hypemachine is not perfect, 'cos it don't have Kriton Music indexed :-), but it's a nice service though. Recently we've covered one out of three top artists with our posts about Kanye's fixed gear 'cos the most blogged ones for the time being are Kanye, Cut Copy and MGMT.

But let's fix that: Cut Copy really rocks and so does MGMT.
