Classic Finnish Reggae Pop
This is really something. One of the most expensive videos made in FInland (!) is a catchy reggae-influenced pop tune from the Pets.
The video leaves you speechless: a combination of Maija Mehiläinen (Die Biene Maja)style of animation and german softporn lookalikes. What more can I say?

New rules!
SHINE 2009 - NEW RULES from SHINE 2009 on Vimeo.
A great new song and video from a great new finnish outfit, Shine 2009. Shine 2009 is a duo consisting of Schmami, a way nice producer and DJ in his own right and Mikko from Regina. A lot of 1990's stuff has been circulating in the Kriton blog lately, and this is is mos def 1990's influenced. Be sure to also check out their first video Higher.

Love You Down x 3
I came across Meshell's brand new cover version of my absolute favorite 80's slow r&b jam, Ready For The World's Love You Down.
So i had to give you three versions: Meshell goes really deep, heavy and artistic with her vision of this, while INOJ gave you the Miami Bass-influenced, dancefloor-happy treatment (1997, check out the cool campus video with the sistas with them awesome sorority t-shirts... AND a up-and-coming Lil Jon deejaying at 2:50). And of course the classic original from 1986.
It's a shame they didn't have DJ Technics' way cool b-more remix (called "Girlfriend") on YouTube though.

Happy 2010!
And what better way to begin the year, than with some Kano. A true italian classic from 1983.
edit: i felt kinda bad to post the short edit of this song that i found on Youtube. So check out the comments to dl the bonafied extended 12" mix...!

Eli's Glass House
Eli Escobar is a way good dj and a friend of Finland who remembers to visit Helsinki often enough. He's also got the coolest music blog and he's a sought-after remixer, putting out official remixes as well as nice bootles (like this one on a Top Billin EP, for example). But the man is a renaissance hero: he's even done some tracks of his own. Like this new one called Glass House. And it has a really nice throwback video.

"OK, b***h, it's Weezer and it's Weezy"
Weezer and Lil Wayne, written by Jermaine Dupri... hands up, who saw this coming? Rivers Cuomo getting busy some the most generic jiggy-rap lyrics like "I gotta have Patron, I gotta have the weed..." Loads of trance-rap synths, Wayne's voice morphing into River's voice.
Sort of very ridonkulous and retarded, but still sort of amusing. On the chorus the production kinda sounds like Linkin Park, though...

Baby drop another Slow Jam
There's really nothing like a nice, smooth slow jam to warm up the cold september nights. These are some of my favorites right now.
Also, these videos are a nice throwback to what the urban style was all about in the mid 80's (1985 and 1986, to be exact). Jheri curls, moustaches, big blazers, silk shirts, leather pants & all that. Now when will The Cool Kids catch that wave?

Never Surrender
Ahh, a real 80's cheese pop classic to warm up the cold september days. Corey Hart's "Never Surrender". The video also looks SO Canadian it hurts.

Weezer showing of their knowledge of the Web 2.0 Viral phenomenon. You can spot quite a few "viral videos" within this "viral video". Talk about intertextuality!

So friggin' beautiful back then, wasn't it?
We've discussed here of some of the bands that we Kriton boys have played in. There have been quite a few different bands from Sideffect's melodic punk to Chunking Dwee & Twat Juice Dwindler's funk rock to emorock of Genius Breed and Duplo's garage rock to Down My Throat's hardcore metal to Mighty Mullet's 70's/80's heavyrock covers to name a few. But what we all share is the past in the band Belmondo. Yepp, and now it's on Youtube, check out these vids:
